Caldeirão and N2

Caldeirão and N2

Serra do Caldeirão is the mountainous area that separates the Algarve from the plains of Alentejo. The landscape is planted with cork oaks and arbutus berry trees that decorate the hillsides of green and brown.

The National Road 2 (N2) is also drawn by the contours of the Serra do Caldeirão hills. A segment of what is the longest road in the country was classified in 2003 as the 1st Heritage Road in Portugal. It is a passionate road that constantly asks us to return just to feel its bends. Along the way, we are rewarded with viewpoints whose view extends from the mountains to the sea, with natural pools and restaurants where you can enjoy game meat.

Recommended stops include buildings which are marks of the region's architecture, picturesque villages and towns, as well as parks with water courses that are worth visiting.
